Sacramento, CA (January 21, 2026) – A husband and wife were hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident on Monday afternoon on State Route 51 South, near the U.S. 50 interchange in Sacramento, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on January 19, as southbound traffic approached the SR-50 junction. CHP and Sacramento Fire Department units responded to the scene after receiving reports of a crash involving a green Honda CR-V and a white Toyota Tacoma.
Initial assessments revealed that the Honda sustained damage to the center driver-side area, while the Toyota suffered significant front-end damage. Both vehicles came to rest near the right-hand shoulder following the impact, causing moderate traffic disruption in the area.
Fire department personnel on site evaluated both occupants of one of the vehicles—a married couple—before transporting them to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. The exact nature of their injuries has not been released, but they were described as requiring further medical attention.
Authorities have not indicated that impairment or reckless driving played a role, and no arrests or citations were noted in early reports. The incident remains under investigation as officials work to determine the sequence of events leading to the crash.
We extend our best wishes for a full recovery to those injured in this collision.
