How Left-Turn Crashes Often Impact Motorcyclists at Intersections
Collisions involving motorcycles frequently occur at intersections, especially when a vehicle turns left across oncoming traffic. Motorcycles can be harder to see at night due to their smaller size and single headlight, which may make it difficult for drivers to judge distance and speed.
When multiple motorcycles are traveling together, a turning driver may focus on one bike and fail to notice others behind it. These crashes often lead to serious injuries because riders have limited protection compared to people inside passenger vehicles.
Road conditions, lighting, and traffic flow can also influence how these incidents unfold. Even at moderate speeds, the force of impact between a car and a motorcycle can result in severe outcomes for riders.
