What Happens When Someone Is Trapped After a Crash?
In some crashes, damage to a vehicle can trap a person inside. This may occur when doors are jammed or parts of the vehicle are pushed inward.
Specialized rescue teams use tools to carefully cut through metal and create space to safely remove the occupant. This process is often conducted with caution to prevent further harm.
The time needed for extrication can vary depending on the severity of the damage. Once freed, the person is usually evaluated and taken to a hospital for further care.
