SAN ELIZARIO, El Paso County, Texas, Nov. 2, 2026 — A 54-year-old woman died on Sunday morning, November 1, after a head-on crash on Socorro Road in San Elizario. A 61-year-old man has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the crash.

The truck's driver, identified by the sheriff's office as Lydia Burrola, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The road closed near the 11900 block of Socorro Road shortly after the crash, with San Elizario Fire Rescue reporting the closure beginning at Thompson Road around 7:15 a.m. The sheriff's office's Special Traffic Investigators responded and kept the area shut down for an extended period while they worked the scene.
Following the investigation, deputies identified the other driver as Daniel Martinez, 61, and arrested him on a charge of intoxication manslaughter. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $150,000 bond. Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said in a statement that impaired driving puts everyone on the road at risk and urged drivers to arrange a sober ride before drinking.
