San Jose, CA (January 26, 2026) – A deadly hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a pedestrian on January 25 near the intersection of Borello Dr and South Bascom Ave, according to officials with the San Jose Police Department.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. when an adult male was struck by an unidentified vehicle. Responding officers arrived at the location to find the victim seriously injured in the roadway. Emergency medical teams quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, but he was later pronounced deceased while receiving care.

Police reported that the driver involved fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. As of this time, no information has been released regarding the vehicle or individual responsible for the collision.

The area surrounding Borello Dr and South Bascom Ave was closed for several hours on Sunday night as investigators worked the scene, gathering evidence and canvassing for potential witnesses or surveillance footage.
