San Lorenzo, CA (January 8, 2026) – A crash involving a big rig and a compact car caused injuries and traffic disruption on the southbound I-880 off-ramp at Lewelling Blvd in San Lorenzo on Wednesday afternoon. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the collision left the Honda Fit blocking the #2 lane on the off-ramp, while the semi-truck came to a stop on the right-hand shoulder. Emergency medical responders were dispatched shortly after the crash to provide aid to those injured.
A witness at the scene stated that the female driver of the Honda Fit appeared to be texting moments before the crash occurred. The witness reportedly recorded the behavior and shared the footage with authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
