Why Pedestrian Accidents Often Result in Serious Injuries
Pedestrian collisions can be particularly dangerous because pedestrians lack the physical protection afforded to vehicle occupants. Even low-speed impacts can lead to serious injuries or fatalities.
Highways and major roads increase the risk because vehicles travel faster and drivers have less time to react. Poor visibility, inattentive driving, and road design can also contribute to accidents.
Investigators usually review factors such as vehicle speed, road conditions, and traffic signals to determine how a pedestrian collision occurred.
