Philadelphia, PA (March 13, 2026) – Two people were rescued and taken to a hospital after a house fire early on Friday morning, March 13, in Philadelphia’s Feltonville neighborhood.
Firefighters responded around 6:50 a.m. to the 500 block of East Loudon Street after reports of a residential fire. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the first floor of a two-story rowhome.
Authorities said firefighters rescued two individuals from the second floor of the home. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately released.
Aerial footage from the scene showed the home severely damaged, with the structure appearing heavily scorched as firefighters continued their work at the scene.
Neighbors told local reporters that a mother and daughter are believed to live in the home, though officials have not confirmed their identities.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control around 7:10 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
We hope that the injured victims make a swift recovery.
Why Rowhome Fires Can Spread Quickly
Rowhomes are built closely together, often sharing walls with neighboring properties. Because of this design, fires that begin in one unit can quickly spread if not contained.
Smoke and heat can travel through shared structural spaces, making early detection and rapid response critical. Firefighters often focus on controlling the blaze quickly to prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
Emergency crews also prioritize searching the upper floors, where residents may become trapped by smoke or blocked exits.
