Why Semi-Truck Off-Road Crashes Can Be Particularly Dangerous
Large commercial trucks carry significant weight, and leaving the roadway can quickly lead to serious accidents. Hitting trees, guardrails, or uneven terrain can cause the truck to roll or crush the cabin area, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.
Drivers often have limited ability to correct the vehicle’s path once it leaves the pavement, especially at highway speeds. Emergency responders may need specialized equipment to safely remove occupants trapped in large vehicles after collisions.
Other vehicles nearby, such as passenger cars or SUVs, are also at risk in these types of accidents, as sudden movements or debris from the crash can cause additional impacts.
