Canyon, TX (August 26, 2026) – One person was taken to a hospital after a Canyon ISD school bus and an SUV collided on FM 2219 on Monday, August 24. The crash happened west of the Interstate 27 overpass while the bus was traveling its regular route.
According to Texas DPS, the bus stopped at the Interstate 27 service road before attempting to turn left onto FM 2219. Investigators said the bus failed to yield the right of way and turned into the path of the SUV, which then struck the bus. The SUV driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Four students were aboard the bus, but none required hospital treatment. Canyon ISD said all students and the bus driver were safe following the collision.
