Pike Co., IL (August 14, 2026) – A 16-year-old girl died on Thursday morning, August 13, in a collision involving a passenger car and a school bus on U.S. 54 between Atlas and Pike Station. The crash happened at approximately 7:00 a.m.
The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial report confirmed that current Pleasant Hill students on the school bus were safe. School remained in session, with support services made available to students and staff. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
