St. Louis, MI (June 18, 2026) – A St. Louis summer school bus was involved in a collision while students were on board, according to Superintendent Jennifer McKittrick. The bus, identified as the “Donald” bus, struck a car that was waiting to turn from Michigan Ave onto Collison Way.
The crash occurred on Monday, June 15, in St. Louis. Parents were notified following the collision, and medical personnel evaluated the students for possible injuries.
District administrators and law enforcement personnel assisted at the roadway following the accident. McKittrick said students would continue to be monitored after the bus and car came into contact. Details regarding the number of students on board and whether anyone was hurt were not immediately released.
Work to determine the factors that led to the crash is still underway.
We are keeping the students, families, and everyone involved in our thoughts.
How Are Students Evaluated After a School Bus Transportation Crash?
When a school bus is involved in a traffic-related occurrence, student safety is typically the priority. Medical assessments are commonly performed at the roadside to identify any signs of injury, even when no immediate symptoms are reported. Children can sometimes experience delayed discomfort following a sudden stop or vehicle movement.
School districts commonly notify parents as quickly as possible and provide updates as additional information becomes available. Documentation may include statements from bus staff, observations from medical personnel, and reviews of vehicle damage. Student monitoring can continue for hours or days afterwards to watch for symptoms that were not apparent right away.
Transportation reviews may also examine bus routes, traffic patterns, and vehicle positioning to better understand how the contact between vehicles occurred. These reviews help identify factors that may improve safety during future student transportation operations.
