What Factors Are Reviewed in Electric Motorcycle Crashes
Electric motorcycles and similar high-powered e-bikes have become more common on city streets. These vehicles can reach higher speeds than standard bicycles while remaining smaller than traditional motorcycles.
When a crash involves a pedestrian and an electric motorcycle, several factors are often reviewed. These can include the vehicle’s speed, visibility at the intersection, and whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk.
Traffic signals and right-of-way conditions may also be considered. In busy areas with heavy foot traffic, drivers and riders must watch closely for people crossing the road.
Because electric motorcycles are quieter than many gas-powered vehicles, pedestrians may have less warning before a vehicle approaches. This can sometimes contribute to collisions at intersections where both vehicles and pedestrians are present.
