Semi Crashes With Downed Powerlines Bring Serious Hazards
Crashes involving semis can create serious risks because of the size and weight of the truck. When a large vehicle and a smaller vehicle collide, the force can lead to multiple injuries and heavy roadway damage.
A downed power line adds another major safety concern. Live wires may create shock hazards for injured people, drivers, and anyone approaching the crash site. Even if a wire appears still, the surrounding ground or vehicle parts may be unsafe until utility crews confirm the area is clear.
Intersection crashes with utility damage may also slow traffic for an extended time. Crews may need to treat injured people, secure the power line, check for debris, and remove damaged vehicles before the road can safely reopen.
