Cedar Rapids, IA (July 23, 2026) – A semi truck driver was injured on Tuesday afternoon, July 21, after his truck suffered a tire failure, went over a guardrail, and landed in Blue Creek near the 38-mile marker on Interstate 380, according to an Iowa State Patrol report. The wreck happened around 3:45 p.m. as the truck was heading north.
The driver, a 60-year-old man from La Porte City, was airlifted to Iowa City for treatment. Hazmat crews were called after fluids from the truck began leaking into the creek. The investigation remains ongoing.
