Pratt County, KS (July 5, 2026) – One person was killed early on Saturday morning, July 4, around 5:20 a.m. in a collision involving two semi-trucks on US Highway 54 near Cullison in Pratt County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2019 semi-truck hauling a 2012 Vanguard trailer was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line for reasons that remain under investigation. A westbound 2027 semi-truck hauling a 1996 Fontaine trailer attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle but was struck along the side.
The driver of the eastbound semi, identified as 53-year-old James Glover Jr. of Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene. The westbound driver, a 51-year-old man from Cypress, Texas, was not injured. The second semi came to rest in a north ditch and lost its cargo during the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
