Vail, AZ (June 19, 2026) – One person was injured on Thursday afternoon, June 18, after a semi-truck fire on Interstate 10 near Vail.
Tucson Fire Department said crews were dispatched at 12:46 p.m. to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10 on Tucson’s east side. Engines arrived about 13 minutes later and reported heavy black smoke, with the cab of a semi-truck on fire.
Additional emergency units were requested while crews were still on the way. A water tender and hazmat crew were also called after a fuel tanker was found to be involved.
The fire was brought under control by 1:46 p.m., about an hour after the first call. One person was brought to a local hospital, though that person’s medical status was not released. The I-10 incident remains under review as officials work to confirm the cause.
