Hillsboro, TX (June 18, 2026) – One driver was hurt on Wednesday night, June 17, after a collision involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 35 East near Hillsboro.
Troopers were called just before 9:00 p.m. to the northbound lanes near mile marker 376. The report said the vehicles came together on that stretch of the interstate.
One of the semi-trucks left the roadway and went into a nearby creek. Emergency units removed the driver from the vehicle before the person was brought to a hospital with minor injuries. Investigators are continuing to review what led to the collision.
We hope the injured driver makes a full recovery.
Creekside Truck Crashes Can Create Added Rescue Challenges
When a large truck leaves the road and enters a creek, the response can become more difficult. Uneven ground, water, mud, and a steep shoulder can make it harder to reach the driver safely.
Semi-trucks are heavy and can settle into soft ground after leaving the pavement. This may complicate removal efforts and require careful planning before crews can access the cab. The position of the truck, nearby traffic, and lighting can also affect how quickly help can reach the person inside.
Interstate travel adds another concern because other drivers may still be moving at highway speeds nearby. Lane control, tow access, and medical evaluation usually take time after a large truck leaves the roadway. Early reports may remain brief until the vehicle is recovered and the sequence is confirmed.
