What to Know About Multi-Vehicle Highway Crashes
Multi-vehicle crashes can happen quickly when traffic slows or stops without much warning. Drivers who are traveling too closely behind another vehicle may have less time to react when conditions suddenly change.
Maintaining a safe following distance gives drivers more time to brake or change lanes safely. Staying focused on traffic ahead and watching for slowing vehicles can also help reduce the risk of chain-reaction collisions, especially on busy highways and near ramps.
