San Antonio, TX (September 12, 2026) – Three drivers were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after six vehicles collided on Highway 90 West near the Highway 151 ramp on Thursday, September 10. The collision happened around 3:50 p.m.

Police said one driver swerved into another lane when traffic suddenly stopped. That vehicle struck another vehicle pulling a trailer, triggering a chain reaction involving several other vehicles. The second vehicle hit two additional vehicles, while its trailer struck another vehicle. A total of six vehicles were involved in the crash, according to police.

Three drivers were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The incident remains under investigation, and additional details may be released as the investigation continues.

Our thoughts are with those injured as they receive medical care.

What to Know About Multi-Vehicle Highway Crashes

Multi-vehicle crashes can happen quickly when traffic slows or stops without much warning. Drivers who are traveling too closely behind another vehicle may have less time to react when conditions suddenly change.

Maintaining a safe following distance gives drivers more time to brake or change lanes safely. Staying focused on traffic ahead and watching for slowing vehicles can also help reduce the risk of chain-reaction collisions, especially on busy highways and near ramps.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
