Why Overnight Expressway Crashes Can Become Severe
Crashes on major expressways during overnight and early morning hours can be especially dangerous due to reduced visibility and higher travel speeds. Traffic may be lighter at those times, which can sometimes lead drivers to travel faster or react later to hazards ahead.
Multi-vehicle freeway collisions often involve significant force because vehicles are moving continuously at highway speeds. Investigators commonly review roadway evidence, traffic camera footage, and vehicle damage patterns to determine how the collision unfolded. Even when only a small number of vehicles are involved, injuries can quickly become life-threatening due to the impact forces experienced by occupants inside the vehicles.
