What Is Typically Reviewed Following a Multi-Vehicle Highway Crash?
Multi-vehicle highway crashes often require a detailed review because several drivers, passengers, and vehicles may be involved. Investigators generally examine traffic flow, vehicle positions, roadway markings, weather conditions, and any available surveillance or dash-camera footage. These details can help establish how the sequence of impacts developed.
In many cases, vehicle damage patterns are also analyzed to determine the order in which vehicles came into contact. Witness statements may provide additional insight, particularly when traffic congestion or sudden lane changes are factors. Medical records can later help clarify the extent of harm experienced by those involved. As more information becomes available, a clearer picture of how the chain of collisions unfolded can emerge.
