How Multi-Vehicle Crashes Can Occur on Highways
Chain-reaction collisions often happen when traffic slows suddenly, or a vehicle is unable to stop in time. Even a minor rear-end collision can push cars into other lanes, involving multiple vehicles. Factors such as vehicle size, speed, and road conditions influence how a crash spreads.
Towed trailers or large trucks can increase stopping distances, making it harder to avoid collisions. Highways with heavy traffic are particularly susceptible, and even experienced drivers can be caught off guard. Understanding these dynamics helps explain why several vehicles can be involved and why injuries range from minor to serious.
