Butte County, CA (June 20, 2026) – Several people were involved in a two-vehicle collision on Friday morning on State Route 162 near Aguas Frias in Butte County.
According to dispatch records, the crash was reported at approximately 10:42 a.m. on June 19 along SR-162 just west of Aguas Frias. Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had overturned into a ditch and was sinking in water. One person remained inside while another had exited and was conscious and moving.
Passing motorists stopped to assist before emergency units arrived. Reports also indicated the possible presence of a teen inside the vehicle. By 10:54 a.m., dispatch logs stated that all occupants had been removed from the submerged vehicle.
The roadway was shut down as crews worked in the area. Two air ambulances were requested, and helicopters were later cleared to land nearby. Dispatch notes show a silver BMW sustained major front-end damage, while a Toyota minivan was found upside down in water up to its wheels.
The identities of the people involved and the extent of their injuries were not released in the initial report. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
