The Dangers of Car and Semi-Truck Collisions: What Makes These Crashes So Devastating
Crashes involving passenger vehicles and semi-trucks can be especially serious due to the size and weight difference between the vehicles. Even at moderate speeds, a collision with a commercial truck can cause extensive damage and increase the risk of fatal injuries.
Highways such as rural state routes often have long stretches of uninterrupted travel, which can lead to higher speeds. When two vehicles traveling in the same direction make contact, it can result in a loss of control or secondary impacts with roadside barriers or other lanes of traffic.
Investigators typically review vehicle positions, roadway conditions, and crash timing to understand how the accident developed. These details help determine whether speed, spacing, or driver actions played a role.
