What Conditions Can Increase Risk on Rural Two-Lane Roads?
Roads like State Road 40 often serve as key travel routes through less developed areas. In Silver Springs, these types of roads may have curves, limited lighting, and narrow lanes.
Head-on crashes are more likely on two-lane roads where opposing traffic shares a single roadway without a barrier. Curves can reduce visibility and make it harder for drivers to react in time to changing conditions.
Nighttime travel can further reduce visibility, especially in areas without streetlights. Roadway design, combined with speed and driver awareness, can influence how safely vehicles navigate these stretches.
