Gray, ME (August 11, 2026) – Three people were injured after a vehicle crashed on the Maine Turnpike in Gray. The single-vehicle accident happened around 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, near mile marker 66 on the southbound Turnpike.
According to officials, 33-year-old Bright Appiah of Portland had pulled a white 2018 Nissan Rogue onto the shoulder. As Appiah attempted to merge back into traffic, he overcorrected while accelerating and lost control of the vehicle. The Nissan crossed the median and struck a median guardrail.
Appiah and two passengers were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Several motorists stopped to help, followed within minutes by off-duty firefighters, EMTs, and a doctor who assisted. We are keeping everyone injured in our thoughts.
