How Can Multi-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Injure Several People?
Busy intersections bring vehicles together from several directions, which can create multiple points of contact when a crash happens. One initial impact may also push a vehicle into another car nearby.
Occupants can be jolted forward, sideways, or backward depending on where their vehicle is struck. Even minor injuries may involve soreness, bruising, strains, or other symptoms that need medical evaluation.
Vehicle speed, seating position, restraint use, and the number of impacts can all influence injury severity. Congested intersections may also make it harder for drivers to avoid secondary contact once the first collision begins.
