Why Multi-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Often Cause Multiple Injuries
Crashes at intersections can lead to several injuries because vehicles may approach from different directions at the same time. Even at moderate speeds, side-impact and turning collisions can create strong forces inside passenger compartments.
Busy intersections such as S. Perryville Road and Charles Street often experience heavy traffic flow during evening hours, which may increase the chance of drivers encountering sudden stops or crossing traffic. Investigators typically review traffic signals, roadway markings, and witness accounts to determine how these collisions occur. Emergency crews may also request mutual aid from nearby departments when several injured people require assistance at the same time.
