Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed affect whether someone survives a crash like this?
Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force involved in a collision, which raises the chances of serious or fatal injury, especially for anyone not inside an enclosed vehicle.
Why does protective gear or restraint use matter so much in crashes like this?
Riders on e-scooters, motorcycles and bicycles have little to no protection in a collision with a larger vehicle, so helmets and visibility gear can make a major difference in outcomes even though they can't prevent every injury.
What should families do after a fatal crash?
Families typically start by contacting the investigating agency for updates on the case, requesting the official crash report once it's released, and reaching out to local victim services if they need support.
How do agencies investigate fatal crashes like this one?
Investigators typically examine the scene, interview witnesses and involved drivers, review any available video or data, and determine each vehicle's speed and path before issuing a final report.
