South Bend, IN (January 28, 2026) – A two-vehicle accident with injuries was reported early January 28 at the intersection of Lincolnway East and South Ironwood Dr in South Bend. The crash involved a black Ford Escape and a black Chevy Equinox, with airbags deployed and vehicles disabled in the middle of the intersection.
An off-duty officer was first on scene and reported the severity of the impact before medics were officially requested. Emergency crews soon responded to assess those involved and provide necessary medical care.
The number and extent of injuries have not been officially confirmed, but responders remained on site to assist with traffic control and initiate an investigation. Both vehicles sustained visible damage.
Authorities are continuing to determine the cause of the crash.
