South Bend, IN (January 26, 2026) – Emergency crews were dispatched to a significant injury collision early on Monday morning in South Bend, where several individuals required medical attention.
The accident occurred on January 26 around 10:29 a.m. at the intersection of East Chippewa Ave and South Michigan St. Dispatch audio confirmed the involvement of South Bend Medic Five, and additional reports indicated the crash included a public transit bus and a white pickup truck.
At least four individuals were reportedly hurt and evaluated at the scene. Responders coordinated emergency care and directed resources to a nearby church parking lot to assist with triage and patient transport.
Traffic disruptions were noted in the area as police managed the scene and began an investigation into the cause of the crash. The full extent of injuries remains under review.
