Frequently Asked Questions
Where do most traffic accidents happen?
Many crashes, including the kind involving pedestrians or small children, happen in low-speed settings like parking lots and driveways, where drivers may not expect someone to be close to the vehicle.
How can drivers reduce their crash risk in parking lots?
Checking mirrors and surroundings before opening a door or backing out, and moving slowly, gives drivers more time to spot a child or pedestrian nearby.
What injuries are most common in parking lot accidents involving children?
Children struck by vehicle doors or caught between vehicles can suffer bruising, fractures, or more serious injuries depending on the force and point of impact; a medical evaluation is recommended even if injuries appear minor.
What to Do After a Parking Lot Accident in Spring, TX
Anyone involved in or who witnesses a parking lot accident should call 911 right away so emergency responders can evaluate the people involved, especially when a child is hurt. Even seemingly minor injuries from being struck by a door or caught between vehicles can take time to show symptoms, so a prompt medical check is worthwhile. Stay at the scene until deputies arrive, and share any details you observed to help the investigation. Parents and caregivers in Spring may also want to keep young children within arm's reach in parking lots, since drivers backing out or opening doors often have limited visibility of someone that small.
