Springfield, VA (January 11, 2026) – A tragic collision claimed the life of a woman on Saturday in Fairfax County, prompting extended road closures and a major investigation by local authorities. The fatal crash occurred on January 10 at the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Hutsman Boulevard in the Springfield area.
Fairfax County Police responded to the scene where the woman, who was driving one of the involved vehicles, was pronounced dead on-site. Details surrounding the crash remain limited, and authorities have not yet released the woman’s identity. Southbound lanes of the Fairfax County Parkway were closed for several hours as detectives processed the scene and collected evidence.
Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes as the investigation continued into the evening. It is not yet clear what factors contributed to the collision, and officers are working to determine whether speed, distraction, or mechanical failure played a role.
