Why Crashes Involving Emergency Vehicles Often Lead to Serious Collisions
Collisions involving emergency response vehicles often occur at intersections where drivers may not immediately recognize or react to approaching sirens and flashing lights. These situations can become especially dangerous when multiple lanes of traffic or obstructed views limit visibility.
Intersections like Adie and St. Charles Rock Rd can pose additional risks because drivers must make quick decisions while also yielding to emergency traffic. Even a brief delay in reaction time can lead to high-impact crashes, such as T-bone collisions.
After these incidents, investigators typically review traffic signal timing, driver positioning, and emergency vehicle routes. These findings help determine how the collision occurred and whether proper right-of-way procedures were followed.
