Our thoughts are with the injured rider as he recovers.
Why Motorcycle Turning Collisions Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Crashes involving motorcycles and turning vehicles are common on two-lane highways and can become especially dangerous because motorcycles are smaller and harder for drivers to judge in traffic. When a vehicle turns into a motorcycle’s path, riders often have little time or space to avoid impact.
Ejection crashes can significantly increase injury severity because riders are exposed directly to the roadway after impact. Investigators reviewing these collisions typically examine turning movements, right-of-way, visibility, and vehicle speed. Protective gear and helmet use are also reviewed because they can affect the extent of injuries during a motorcycle crash.
