Why Motorcycle Ejection Crashes Often Result in Severe Injuries
Motorcycle crashes involving ejections frequently lead to serious or fatal injuries because riders and passengers have little physical protection during an overturn or roadway departure. When a motorcycle leaves the pavement, uneven terrain and loss of control can quickly cause the vehicle to overturn.
Investigators typically review speed, roadway conditions, and possible steering or braking actions before the crash occurred. Helmet and safety equipment use are also examined because they can influence injury severity during ejection incidents. Rural roads with curves or limited shoulders may further increase the risk of losing control and leaving the roadway.
