Knox County, IN (June 18, 2026) – An Indiana State Police trooper was injured on Tuesday evening, June 16, after being struck by an SUV while standing outside his patrol vehicle along US 41 in Knox County.
According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. near Decker. Investigators said Master Trooper Brett Pool was standing outside his fully marked patrol car when he was hit by an SUV driven by 33-year-old Anna Elkins.
Emergency responders transported Trooper Pool to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for treatment of injuries that police described as non-life-threatening.
Officials reported that Elkins was not injured in the incident. Investigators also stated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
Following the investigation, Elkins was cited for unsafe lane movement. No additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision were immediately released.
