Why Do Left-Turn Motorcycle Crashes Happen So Often?
Intersections are common sites for motorcycle collisions, especially when one vehicle is turning left. Drivers may misjudge the speed of an oncoming motorcycle or fail to see it altogether. Because motorcycles are smaller than most cars, they can be harder to spot in traffic.
When a vehicle turns across the path of a motorcycle, the rider often has limited time to react. Even quick braking may not prevent a crash. These types of accidents can be severe due to the lack of protective barriers around the rider.
Road lighting, traffic volume, and sightlines can also affect how easily drivers see approaching motorcycles. Clear visibility and cautious turning can reduce the risk of these collisions.
