What Makes Urban Motorcycle Intersections High Risk?
Motorcycle crashes at city intersections often happen when vehicles cross paths while turning or proceeding through a junction. Riders have less physical protection than those inside passenger cars, which can increase the severity of injuries in a collision.
Busy intersections may include multiple lanes, traffic signals, and turning vehicles. When traffic is heavy, drivers may focus on nearby cars and overlook smaller vehicles like motorcycles.
Visibility can also change quickly in urban areas due to buildings, parked cars, or shifting light conditions. These factors can reduce reaction time and increase the chance of a serious accident when vehicles meet at crossing points.
