Frequently Asked Questions
Why is distracted driving a concern in work zones?
Construction areas usually bring sudden lane shifts, narrowed roads, and slowed traffic. A driver who looks away from the road for even a few seconds can miss these changes and strike another vehicle or a worker.
How do road conditions and construction zones contribute to crashes?
Uneven pavement, temporary barriers, and reduced lanes can catch drivers off guard, especially if signage is limited or traffic is moving at inconsistent speeds through the zone.
What should I do immediately after a car accident?
Move to a safe location if possible, check for injuries, call 911, and notify the responding agency. Exchange information with the other driver and document the scene if you're able to safely do so.
Where do most traffic accidents happen?
Many crashes occur on highways and rural routes, particularly in areas with ongoing construction, reduced visibility, or changing speed limits.
