Casper, WY (May 27, 2026) – A motorcyclist was seriously hurt on Monday night, May 25, after a truck and motorcycle were involved in an accident near downtown Casper.
The collision was reported shortly before 10:00 p.m. at South McKinley Street and 2nd Street. The police said the truck left after the crash, and witnesses provided a description to officers.
Officers later found the truck in a nearby park after it had hit a boulder. The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities said the 16-year-old truck driver showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking before driving. He was taken into custody on charges including driving under the influence, minor in possession, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and no auto insurance. The wreck remains under review as investigators continue gathering details.
We hope the injured motorcyclist receives steady care and support during recovery.
Why Suspected DUI Motorcycle Accidents Can Be Severe
Motorcycle accidents involving suspected impairment can lead to serious injuries because riders have little protection during contact with a larger vehicle. A motorcyclist may be thrown from the bike or hit the pavement, curb, or another object. These injuries can affect the head, back, chest, arms, legs, or hips.
Nighttime crashes can also make recovery and review more difficult. Lower visibility, traffic speed, and delayed reaction time might all affect how the vehicles come together. When a driver leaves after a crash, police may rely on witness statements, vehicle damage, debris, nearby cameras, and the vehicle’s path afterward. Even when injuries are not life-threatening, hospital care and follow-up treatment may still be needed.
