Why Witness Video Can Be Helpful After Traffic Collisions

Video captured by home security systems or nearby businesses can provide valuable information after a traffic collision. Camera footage may show vehicle movements, traffic flow, weather conditions, and the sequence of actions leading up to the moment of contact. This evidence can help verify timelines and clarify details that may not be immediately available through witness statements alone.

In collisions involving motorcycles or electric motorcycles, video can also help show vehicle speeds, lane positions, visibility, and whether traffic laws were being followed. As additional evidence is reviewed, a clearer picture of what happened usually becomes available, allowing investigators to better understand the factors that contributed to the collision.
