Frequently Asked Questions
What factors make a crash more likely to be fatal?
Speed, the size difference between vehicles, and whether a person has any protective barrier at the moment of impact all play a role. A scooter or bike rider has far less protection than someone inside a car, which raises the risk of serious or fatal injury in a collision.
How does speed affect crash survivability?
Higher speeds mean more force at impact and less time for a driver to react or stop. Even modest reductions in speed can mean the difference between a survivable crash and a fatal one, especially when a pedestrian or scooter rider is involved.
What should families do after a fatal crash?
Families typically start by requesting the official police report once it's released and staying in contact with the investigating agency for updates. Many also find it helpful to speak with a grief counselor or local support service during the investigation.
