What Increases the Risk of Injury in Rollover Crashes?
Rollover crashes often involve vehicles losing balance and flipping, which can lead to multiple impacts. These events can happen when a vehicle leaves the roadway or enters a median at speed.
Ejection from a vehicle is one of the most serious risks in a rollover. When occupants are not secured, they may be thrown outside the vehicle, increasing the chance of severe injury.
Seat belts can help reduce this risk by keeping occupants in place during the crash. Vehicle type, speed, and roadway conditions all influence how a rollover develops and how severe the outcome may be.
