This area of W Hillsborough Ave is a heavily traveled corridor in northwest Tampa, particularly active during early morning commuting hours. The crash occurred near residential complexes, where pedestrian crossings are common but can be hazardous in low-light conditions.
Law enforcement is investigating the cause of the incident, including whether reduced visibility, driver inattention, or pedestrian movement outside of designated crosswalks played a role. Traffic in the area may have been temporarily impacted as crews managed the scene.
We extend our best wishes to the pedestrian involved and hope for a safe and full recovery.
