TAYLORSVILLE, Salt Lake County, Utah, Nov. 2, 2026 — A woman died on Saturday night, October 31, after a two-vehicle crash at 2700 West and 5400 South, according to Taylorsville police. Her passenger was hospitalized in stable condition after needing to be freed from the vehicle.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection at about 10:20 p.m., Taylorsville police Sgt. Lutz said. The woman driving one of the vehicles was taken to a hospital, and a male passenger in the same car had to be extricated before he was also transported for treatment.
While crews were clearing the intersection, hospital staff reported the woman had gone into full cardiac arrest. She later died. Following that update, the Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team, a specialized police unit, was called in to investigate, and the intersection stayed closed for an extended period while that work was done.
The driver of the second vehicle, described as dark blue, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. He did not suffer serious injuries. Lutz said he believed everyone involved in the crash was an adult. No cause has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the person who died.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed change the odds of surviving a crash? Yes. Higher speed means more force has to be absorbed in a collision, which raises the chance of serious injury or death even in a crash that might otherwise be survivable.
Why does wearing a seat belt matter so much? A seat belt keeps an occupant from being thrown into the dashboard, windshield, or out of the vehicle entirely, and it spreads crash force across stronger parts of the body, cutting the risk of fatal injury.
What should a family do after a fatal crash? Families can request the official crash report once it's released, contact the investigating agency with questions, and reach out to the county medical examiner's office for information on next steps.
How do police investigate a fatal crash like this one? Specialized units, such as a crash analysis reconstruction team, document the scene, measure skid marks and vehicle damage, and review any available video to determine how the crash happened.
