Perrysburg, OH (June 22, 2026) – A teenage girl was left with life-threatening injuries on Sunday night, June 21, after an accident on Interstate 75 in Perrysburg Township. The wreck happened around 11 p.m. in the southbound lanes near milepost 195.
Troopers said a 51-year-old Perrysburg man was driving a Cadillac CTS south at a high rate of speed. The Cadillac then struck a Ford Escape driven by a 41-year-old Bolingbrook, Illinois, man, causing both vehicles to stop in the roadway.
The Ford driver and his passengers, a 47-year-old woman and two girls ages 16 and 13, were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. One of the teens had life-threatening trauma.
The Cadillac driver and his passenger, a 43-year-old Maumee man, were also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Speed and impairment are believed to have contributed to the collision. The case remains under review as investigators work to confirm the full sequence of events.
We are keeping the young patient and everyone harmed in our thoughts as they receive medical care.
Why High-Speed Highway Impacts Can Cause Severe Harm
High-speed highway impacts can leave little time for drivers to react. When one vehicle strikes another at freeway speeds, both vehicles may spin, shift lanes, or stop in active traffic. This can place passengers at greater risk, especially when several people are inside one vehicle.
Teen passengers may need careful medical checks after a major roadway emergency. Doctors usually look for head, chest, back, and internal trauma, even when some injuries are not visible right away.
Impairment concerns can also affect how a serious highway case is reviewed. Alcohol or drugs may slow reaction time, reduce judgment, and make it harder for a driver to control speed. These factors can make a routine trip far more dangerous for everyone nearby.
