Montgomery Village, MD (August 28, 2026) – A 16-year-old boy was hurt on Wednesday morning after a car struck him while he crossed Watkins Mill Rd. The collision happened around 7:40 a.m. near Cove Ledge Ct.
Montgomery County police said the vehicle remained at the location after the accident. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service radio transmissions estimated the car was traveling about 25 to 30 mph.
The teenager was taken to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda with cuts, abrasions, and lower back pain. He was classified as a priority two patient under Maryland EMS protocols, indicating injuries requiring emergency medical attention but not immediately endangering his life.
The intersection is less than one mile from Watkins Mill High School, where classes began at 7:45 a.m. The police did not confirm whether the boy attended the school or was traveling there. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation.
