Jonesborough, TN (July 16, 2026) – A 17-year-old driver lost his life and two passengers were hurt in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon, July 14, on Highway 11E near the Jonesborough Flea Market in Jonesborough.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 4 p.m. A preliminary investigation found the teenager was traveling well above the posted 65 mph speed limit while weaving through traffic when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a metal utility pole.
The teenage driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that authorities said were not believed to be life-threatening. No additional information about those involved has been released.
