Marion Twp., OH (July 6, 2026) – A 16-year-old boy died after a two-vehicle collision on Saturday night, July 4, on Likens-Chapel Road near Fairground Road in Marion Township. The accident was reported at about 10:42 p.m.
A preliminary report said a Mercedes-Benz was parked facing north on Likens-Chapel Road when it was hit from behind by a Ford Ranger. The pickup was driven by Timothy Best, 66, of Marion.
The teen, who was the son of the Mercedes-Benz owner, Sandra Sayre, 46, of Marion, was behind the vehicle when the Ford made contact. He was brought to Marion General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Sayre and two 14-year-old passengers were inside the Mercedes-Benz and had minor injuries. Best was also hurt. The wreck remains under review as investigators continue checking the facts surrounding the fatal impact.
